Happy New Year! | 2016: A Year in Review
I can't believe it's the end of December again already. WHAT A YEAR IT'S BEEN!
'Tis the season to reflect on the year gone by while eating copious amounts of stocking-candy and leftover Christmas cookies while staring at your tree and dreading un-decorating. For some, 2016 was what you may colorfully refer to as a "dumpster fire," but for me, man, it was one hell of a year.
2016 marked my first full calendar year in business, without any W2s to fall back on. (And we're still here! Phew!) It brought me to the West Indies, to Italy, to San Francisco for the first time, to New York City more than once - to Austin Texas and all over New England. It was a stellar year for travel. And along the way I photographed the weddings of 27 gorgeous and wonderfully in love couples. I couldn't have dreamed of a better first full year in business.
In mid September, on a way-too-cold but beautiful Maine evening, my handsome lobsterman-friend asked me if I wanted to go to the beach and go swimming. "You're insane," I said, "YOU can go swimming, I'll watch" - (aka walk the beach drinking wine out of a coffee tumbler) he rushed me into the car so we could catch the sunset. When we arrived, he jumped in the frigid Atlantic, toweled off, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Of course I immediately said YES! ...Just kidding, I apparently didn't say anything at all! For like, a really awkwardly long time. (Sorry, L) I was so stunned I forgot most of the experience, but eventually I came to, and realized what was going on and said, "OF COURSE!" I felt like my heart might explode in a million pieces from all that love. I am so excited to experience life with this guy (and his dog of course) by my side - and also be able to experience weddings and photographing them from a new perspective.
So what would an end of the year blog post be without sharing some of my favorite moments from 2016? Below is a little video I created of some amazing moments, as well as some images I loved. I hope you love them too.
I wouldn't be here without you all, if you stood in front of my camera this year, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am not sure how I got lucky enough to have the best client-friends in the entire world, but I'll take it. You are all so beautiful and so special to me!
Cheers to a 2017 filled with love and light and warmth and happiness.
xoxo
