Wanderlust: Italy
Italy has a piece of my heart, and it always will.
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to travel and experience Italy, and in 2010 when I was in college, I was fortunate enough to make that dream a reality. I spent a semester wandering cobblestone streets, eating, drinking, and learning so many things - among them, photography. A large part of my photography education happened in Rome as I studied under an Italian photojournalist shooting entirely in film. Returning to the United States was bittersweet, but from the moment I stepped onto the return flight I knew I'd be back. And I wanted to take my dad. My father's parents were born in Italy, though my dad had never made the trip himself, so when I found out Way Up North, an incredible photography conference was being held in Rome, I knew I had to go. And whether he liked it or not, (pretty sure now that he liked it!) I was taking my dad with me. The images below are some of my favorites from a whirlwind 8 days spent in Rome in April.
It was so wonderful to see old friends, meet new friends, and show my dad this amazing city. I know I'll go back again, it's just a matter of when . . .
