Amanda & Colby's Non-Engagement Session // East End, Portland, Maine // Phippsburg Engagement Photographer
One of the reasons I love being a photographer is that a huge aspect of it involves working with people and building relationships-- it's not always easy to feel natural in front of someone's camera if you've never met them before! This is why I think it's so important to meet and spend some time with my clients before their big day.
I'm shooting Amanda and Colby's wedding in New Hampshire in August, and they weren't originally going to do an engagement session with me, they weren't really into the idea. But I think engagement photography gets a bad rap! We so often see these boring images of couples standing together looking (feeling) awkward. For me, an engagement session is more about learning what it's like to work together on your wedding day. I want to capture photos of you laughing at each other, feeling comfortable in your love for one another, and sometimes even dancing in public spaces.
We made magic that night!
After meeting for cocktails at the Portland Hunt & Alpine Club (amazing place, amazing service, amazing drinks!) we waited for the rain storm to pass, and headed down to East End Beach in Portland. Below are some of my favorite images from our "non-engagement session" :)
